Your Optimization Score (UOS) is a single number from 0 to 100 that tells you how well your website is optimized across every factor East13 tracks. It is different from your SEO Health Score — think of Health as “what needs fixing” and Optimization as “how much potential you are capturing.”
What the Score Measures
The UOS combines scores across six dimensions:
- Content coverage — Are you publishing enough content for your services and locations?
- Technical optimization — Schema markup, meta tags, page speed, mobile-friendliness
- Local presence — GBP completeness, citation consistency, review velocity
- Backlink strength — Domain authority, directory listings, link diversity
- Keyword positioning — How many target keywords are on page one vs. page two or beyond
- Content quality — Average content score across published articles
How It Is Calculated
Each dimension contributes to the total score based on its impact potential for your specific industry. A law firm might weight backlink strength more heavily. A restaurant might weight local presence and reviews. East13 adjusts the weighting automatically based on your industry classification.
The score updates daily as new data comes in — ranking changes, new content published, backlinks gained, reviews received.
Reading Your Score
- 80-100 — Excellent. You are capturing most of the available opportunity. Focus on maintaining and defending.
- 60-79 — Good. There are meaningful gains still available. Check which dimensions are dragging the score down.
- 40-59 — Fair. Several areas need attention. The dimension breakdown will show you where to focus.
- Below 40 — Early stage. You are likely in your first 30-60 days. Follow the onboarding guide and the score will climb as the platform does its work.
Improving Your Score
The fastest way to improve your UOS is to address the lowest-scoring dimension first. The dashboard highlights this automatically with a “Biggest Opportunity” callout on the Optimization Score panel. Common quick wins include:
- Completing your GBP profile (photos, hours, description, categories)
- Claiming missing directory listings from your backlink strategy
- Publishing the content that East13 has queued for you
- Responding to recent reviews
Most businesses reach a UOS of 70+ within their first 90 days on the platform without any manual work beyond the initial setup.
